Chelsea set to beat Liverpool to £115 million deal for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo - Paper Round - Eurosport

The 17-year-old midfielder, who can also play right back, defeated Chelsea with an absurdly calm performance, earning him the title of man of the match.

If anything, the last week has shown us that Liverpool has plenty of young potential, especially in the midfield. Bobby Clark, 19, and James McConell, 19, both contributed significantly to Sunday’s Carabao Cup victory at Wembley and performed admirably in the FA Cup victory over Southampton in the middle of the week. In the later match, 16-year-old Trey Nyoni made his senior debut and appeared completely at ease in the professional ranks.

For the visitors, Sekou Mara had the ball in the net in less than 30 seconds, but the offside flag disallowed his effort. Liverpool, on the other hand, looked like a young offensive line that produced very little in the first half. However, they were awakened at the start of the second half when a strike by rookie Lewis Koumas rolled into the bottom corner after rebounding off the heel of a defender.

Early in the second half, Southampton should have equalised, but Ibrahima Konate’s prompt poke cleared a cross from danger just as Mara had the goal gaping.

With fifteen minutes to go, Danns added an important second by chipping the custodian off an angled ball from Harvey Elliott. With a straightforward finish into an open goal, the teenager finished his brace and wrapped off a cup victory that advanced Liverpool to the FA Cup quarterfinals. This may be a unique farewell tour for Klopp.
