Due to plantar fasciitis, the former National League Rookie of the Year was sidelined at the close of the previous season and had difficulty over the summer.

With India, the Reds have gone cautiously in the hopes that he would be fully recovered by Opening Day.

This season, it’s believed that he will play in the outfield. How many in-game reps he receives in the outfield before the regular season starts will be intriguing to watch. Throughout the year, he will also occasionally be the Reds designated hitter in addition to playing second base.

At Great American Ballpark on Thursday, March 28 at 4:10 p.m. ET, the Reds take on the Nationals in Opening Day action.

Jonathan India is expected to make his spring training debut on Friday, according to David Bell.
