Chiefs hope Edwards-Helaire can bounce back

The Kansas City Chiefs have added another vital player for the next season, as running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire signed a new one-year contract with the organization.
The signing, revealed by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Tuesday, would provide continuity in the Chiefs’ backfield.

Edwards-Helaire, who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, came to Kansas City with big expectations.

In four seasons with the Chiefs, Edwards-Helaire has accumulated 2,610 scrimmage yards and 19 touchdowns.

Despite facing hurdles like as injuries and the rise of teammate Isiah Pacheco, the LSU graduate has established himself as a significant contributor to the club.

The Chiefs have not released the terms of the new contract, but it is expected to be a cost-effective decision given Edwards-Helaire’s performance during the previous four seasons.

Edwards-Helaire has proven his worth in Chiefs’ offense

Edwards-Helaire’s flexibility as a runner and pass catcher has helped the Chiefs’ offense.

Despite falling short of his rookie season total of 803 running yards and four touchdowns, he has regularly contributed to the team’s success.

Last season, the running back appeared in a career-high 15 games, although he only gained 223 rushing yards and 188 yards in the air on 17 receptions, with two touchdowns.

The choice to re-sign Edwards-Helaire, who has won two Super Bowls with the franchise, has an impact on the team’s offseason preparations.

His return might put a stop to speculation over the acquisition of free agent J.K. Dobbins, who recently visited the Chiefs but remains unsigned.
As the Chiefs prepare for the upcoming season, keeping key players like Edwards-Helaire is critical to ensuring consistency and competitiveness.

His skill set complements Pacheco’s hard-nosed running style, and the Chiefs’ backfield appears to be on track for another solid season.
