The timetable for his return remains uncertain, Mooseheads veteran star is out of game due to a serious injury

Jordan Dumais of the Halifax Mooseheads will not be skating on Saturday night even though his five-game suspension from the organization has ended.

A few hours prior to Game 2 of the Mooseheads’ playoff series against Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Dumais revealed his position on social media.
A team statement stated, “The timetable for his return remains uncertain,” adding that he would not be playing because he had re-aggravated a lower body injury sometime this week.
Beyond the social media post, the Mooseheads didn’t offer any more information.

The Columbus Blue Jackets selected the 19-year-old Montreal native in the third round of the 2022 NHL Draft. On March 21, Halifax Regional Police accused him with driving under the influence.

Dumais was thus given a five-game suspension by the team, which kept him out of the lineup for the rest of the regular season and the opening game of the Mooseheads’ first-round playoff series against the Titan.
Halifax lost the first game of the series 2-1 in overtime on Friday night at home.

The Mooseheads announced Dumais’ suspension on March 15, citing his infractions against the team’s code of conduct and the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.
The team released a statement saying, “The QMJHL and the Mooseheads demand exemplary behavior from all its players, both on and off the ice.”

Dumais is expected to appear in Halifax provincial court on April 9 to answer to charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while having a blood alcohol content.

In his 21 games with the Mooseheads this season, he scored 47 points. In 2023, he topped the league in scoring with 140 points, earning MVP honors.

When Dumais scored his 304th career point in November, he broke Brandon Benedict of Nova Scotia’s record to become Halifax’s all-time leading scorer.

After exacerbating an injury while playing for Team Canada at the world junior hockey championships, he had surgery in January.
