Jaelen Waters, a four-star cornerback and Gators commit, returned to Gainesville this past weekend for Florida’s “Grill in the Ville” recruiting event on Saturday. The 2026 defensive back had a visit scheduled with Miami, but chose to visit the Gators instead.
“I had the days mixed up. I had planned to visit Miami, but when I discovered that the visits were on the same day, I decided to travel to Florida,” Waters remarked.
On Saturday, the 26 prospects in attendance were separated into four teams to play in a Scavenger Hunt throughout campus, which appeared to be the highlight for the majority of the recruits that participated.
“We performed some outdoor activities and stuff like that. “That was the highlight,” Waters stated.
Despite having additional visits planned, Waters is still committed to the Gators and is actively courting other prospects.
“I feel wonderful, and I’m still hooked in. “I feel like this is home.”
With the Hurricanes missing their visit with Waters this weekend, Miami appears to be the next team he will visit, along with the Tigers.
“I plan to visit Miami and attend LSU. Those two and Texas A&M are the teams I’m currently considering.
Waters is expecting one thing from the Florida Gators next season.
“We just beat Miami. “I just want to beat Miami.”
Waters intends to visit town in week one, on August 31st.
The Seffner, Florida native now has 28 offers and is the Gators’ only recruit in the 2026 class other than quarterback Will Griffin. According to 247Sports, the four-star defensive back is the 14th cornerback in the 2026 class. He has 20 total tackles and 6 passes defended in eight games at Armwood High School.
