Good news: Red Sox gifted player’s injury has been resolved, and he is ready for the pitch…..

The Boston Red Sox are in the heart of the American League Wild Card chase. The team’s postseason dreams were dashed when Red Sox Gold Glove outfielder Tyler O’Neill was placed on the injured list earlier this month. But Boston can breathe a sigh of relief, as O’Neill was activated in time for Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne on X.

O’Neill has been on the shelf since August 2. The Red Sox placed him on the 10-day injured list on August 7, but the move was retroactive to August 4. While Boston initially anticipated having O’Neill back in the lineup when he was first eligible, it has taken the seven-year veteran a little longer to overcome several injuries that necessitated.

O’Neill was forced to miss time initially due to a gastrointestinal bug. However, he was also suffering from an infection in his left leg. Ultimately, the 29-year-old slugger spent four days in the hospital, receiving treatment for the infection.

After being discharged, O’Neill resumed baseball activities. Although he was eligible to return from the disabled list last Wednesday, he required a few more days before taking the pitch. It appears that O’Neill is now ready to play for the Red Sox.

Boston requires all of the offence it can muster. The squad went 6-7 without O’Neill and 11-15 since returning from the All-Star break, entering play on Saturday.

The Red Sox trail the first-place New York Yankees by 7.5 games in the American League East. However, they are only 2.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals for the last Wild Card spot.

O’Neill joined the Red Sox in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the 2024 season. In 80 games for Boston, he has 22 home runs, 45 RBI, and 59 runs scored while maintaining a.900 OPS, an OPS+ of 144, and 2.3 WAR.
