Pittsburgh Steelers lose rookie defensive lineman for multiple weeks with calf injury

Logan Lee: Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick signs 4-year deal

Defensive lineman Logan Lee of the Pittsburgh Steelers was placed on injured reserve due to a calf injury he sustained sometime during the latter stages of training camp. The Steelers will probably sign someone from the practice squad to take up the vacant slot on the roster.

Lee’s calf injury kept him out of the team’s game against the Detroit Lions. Lee is currently on injured reserve following the injury and will miss the first four games of the season. He is out until at least Week 5, when the club plays the Dallas Cowboys. With Lee’s injury, the Steelers could afford to place him on injured reserve because they already had seven defensive lineman on the roster. At a position of need, Pittsburgh might use the available place to add a second wide receiver or cornerback.
The Steelers have offensive tackle Dylan Cook and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon on injured reserve; both players are expected to return eventually. But both players will be out for at least the first four weeks of the season. Ryan Watts, a rookie safety, suffered a neck injury against the Lions and is out for the season.

The Steelers promoted wide receiver Ben Skowronek off the practice squad in addition to losing Lee. Due to an ankle ailment, rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson is currently out; Skowronek will assist in filling in for him.
