The summer transfer window officially closed at the end of the previous month, and Celtic and their incoming business had a busy final few weeks on the market.

The Scottish powerhouses had a difficult start to the summer, not adding an outfield player until August, but they concluded it in style.

After Joe Hart retired at the end of the 2023–24 season, Viljami Sinisalo and Kasper Schmeichel both entered before the last month of the window.

The Hoops then swooped to sign Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah on permanent deals, along with Barcelona left-back Alex Valle on a season-long loan deal.

When deadline day finally arrived, just after Matt O’Riley was sold to Brighton & Hove Albion of the Premier League, Brendan Rodgers made three fresh additions to his team by entering the transfer market.

Arne Engels and Luke McCowan, two central midfielders, joined from Augsburg and Dundee, respectively, while Auston Trusty, a center-back, moved from Sheffield United.

As a left-footed center defender, Liam Scales must be replaced by Trusty in order for Cameron Carter-Vickers, a stalwart at Celtic’s defense for several seasons, to play alongside him.
