The deal, which is for one year, will see Paul reunite with rising star Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s 2024 Rookie of the Year.
Chris Paul, who is now 39, was waived by the Warriors earlier in the day. Had he stayed with Golden State, the team would have been obligated to pay him $30 million for the upcoming season. Instead, the Spurs will bring him on board with a considerably smaller salary of approximately $11 million. During his time with the Warriors, Paul made a notable impact, averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 assists per game over 58 appearances.
Known by his nickname “CP3,” Paul has left a significant mark on the league. His illustrious career includes accolades such as the NBA Rookie of the Year, NBA All-Star MVP, and two Olympic gold medals. Drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in 2005, Paul has played for several teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Phoenix Suns.
