Pittsburgh Steelers cut ties with shifty ex-Eagles running back
Boston Scott, a running back, was cut from the practice squad by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After getting hurt during his first practice with the team, Scott was originally placed on the practice squad and then the injured list. Aaron Shampklin, who was a member of the Steelers during training camp, was re-signed. Even though Scott is back and prepared to train, Shampklin has pleased coaches enough to get a slot ahead of Scott.
Scott was removed off the Los Angeles Rams’ 53-man roster. After being picked by the New Orleans Saints out of Louisiana Tech, Scott, a former running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, played for the team for six seasons. But Scott was cut by the Saints early in his career, and he eventually found success with the Eagles.
The Steelers still have Jonathan Ward and Shampklin as running backs on their practice squad despite Scott’s departure. Shampklin and Ward were likely kept ahead of Scott since they were both on the team’s 90-man roster the entire summer and are more familiar with the playbook.
