As the Kansas City Chiefs navigate the early weeks of the 2024 NFL season, they are exploring trade
possibilities to address injuries at key positions. With two weeks of action revealing weaknesses in
several squads, the Chiefs might look to teams like the Carolina Panthers and others currently in rebuild
mode.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano highlighted potential trade candidates, suggesting the Chiefs could be in the mix
for several players as the November 5 trade deadline approaches. Among them is New England Patriots
cornerback Jonathan Jones, who could strengthen the Chiefs’ secondary alongside star Trent McDuffie.
However, given Jones’ upcoming free agency and the recent strong performances from cornerback
Jaylen Watson, Kansas City would need to weigh the cost of such a move carefully.
Another intriguing option is Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson. With Marquise
“Hollywood” Brown sidelined until late December, the Chiefs could benefit from adding a talented
receiver like Johnson, who could also be evaluated for a longer-term contract. This move would be
particularly appealing if the Chiefs’ passing game doesn’t improve in the coming weeks.
The running back position is also a focus following the injury to Isiah Pacheco. The Chiefs are reportedly
interested in both Miles Sanders of the Panthers and Devin Singletary of the New York Giants. With a
committee of undrafted rookie Carson Steele, veteran Samaje Perine, and returning player Kareem Hunt
stepping up, adding more depth could enhance their chances for the rest of the season.
As the Chiefs look to bolster their roster, general manager Brett Veach may soon be making some key
calls to help keep the team competitive.
