Latest Bears Injury Update is Terrible News for Caleb Williams
Although it was anticipated that the offence led by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams would soar, the Chicago Bears
offence hasn’t started the season well.
After two weeks, Chicago is rated disappointingly 32nd in passing (99 yards per game) and 18th in scoring (18.5
points per game). The Bears offense’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday is considerably more
favourable, which is good news.
They will, however, be without one of their best playmakers, which is unfortunate for Williams, who is still figuring
things out in the NFL.
Keenan Allen, an NFL Network wide receiver, was ruled out of Sunday’s game due to a heel injury, according to Ian
Rapoport. Rome Odunze, a rookie wide receiver, is listed as healthy and is expected to participate.
Against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, Odunze sustained a knee injury. Despite being labelled as questionable in
Week 2, the rookie wide out faced the Houston Texans and continued to play.
Allen, on the other hand, will miss his second straight game due to a heel ailment he sustained in Week 1.
The 32-year-old wide receiver recorded four receptions (11 targets) for 29 yards in the first game of the regular
season against the Titans. Allen’s rookie season was disappointing because he was anticipated to be a key member of
the Bears offence.
Having said that, the Bears will be hoping that Williams can work things out with D.J. Moore and Odunze because
Allen will be missing for the second straight game. Moore had a strong performance against Houston last week,
hauling in six passes on ten targets for 53 yards.
Odunze, on the other hand, managed just two receptions for 33 yards on five targets. The Colts defence, which ranks
ninth in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game, will be up against Chicago’s offence.
Although it doesn’t seem good on paper for the Bears, perhaps Williams and the offence can finally click now that the
Colts are struggling on defence.
