Sabaton involved in serious car crash in Tunisia
The original article on Consequence of Sound stated that Sabaton was involved in a serious vehicle accident in Tunisia.
Following a car accident in Tunisia late last week, the members of Sabaton were left “bleeding and stitched up.”
On its official website, the Swedish power-metal band shared pictures of the damaged car along with pictures of drummer Hannes van
Dahl sporting a bloody nose and singer Joakim Brodén receiving medical attention.
The band released the following statement in addition to the pictures:
“We were involved in a serious traffic collision two days ago in Tunisia while returning from a video shoot in the Sahara desert.
All of us are damaged, severely injured, bleeding, and sewn up, but we are grateful to be alive and have faith that we will eventually heal
completely.
Nevertheless, we are certain that we cannot perform the planned concert in Poland today without running the danger of more injuries after
speaking with medical professionals and assessing all of our ailments.
We’ll be back in full force for the North American tour in October, and we’ll get back to Gdansk as soon as we can.
In the interim, we’d like to share a couple of our personal photos from the accident and the Sahara filming.
Thank you for your comprehension, /The Band.
Sabaton noted that the band was had to postpone a special performance scheduled for September 1st in Gdansk, Poland. Their most recent
album, The Great War, is centred around World War I, thus the performance was scheduled to be a part of a celebration honouring that
war.
