EAGAN, Minn. — In a strategic move, the Minnesota Vikings have signed running back Myles Gaskin to
their 53-man roster while placing tight end Nick Muse on Injured Reserve. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell
shared that Muse’s injury, a small fracture in his hand, will sideline him for at least four weeks. Although
he could potentially play with a cast, the coaching staff decided it’s best to allow him time to heal.
“Muse’s contributions as a blocker and pass catcher are vital, so we felt this was the right call,” O’Connell
explained during a press conference. “This decision allows us to add Myles Gaskin as our third running
back.” Gaskin has been on the Vikings’ practice squad, participating in the first two games of the season
with minimal offensive impact but demonstrating his versatility on special teams.
The Vikings’ backfield also features Aaron Jones, Sr., who returned to action after evaluation for an
injury, alongside Ty Chandler and fullback C.J. Ham. This depth will be crucial as the team adjusts to
Muse’s temporary absence.
Muse, a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, has played in both of the Vikings’ initial games this season.
Notably, he contributed to a critical play during a recent match against the San Francisco 49ers,
successfully handling an onside kick despite his injury. “That play was a testament to his situational
awareness and determination,” O’Connell remarked.
As the Vikings navigate these roster changes, fans remain optimistic about the team’s potential and the
promising talent on display. Gaskin’s addition and Muse’s eventual return could provide a boost as the
season progresses.
