Breaking: Slipknot prominent member announces retirement date due to his personal struggles…

Corey Taylor Has Retirement on His Mind, Says He’s “Almost in Constant Pain”

It appears that Corey Taylor will turn 50 this December, which is a bit of news that has made me more aware of my

own age and mortality. Reflecting on such a significant life achievement makes the frontman of Slipknot ponder how

long he can continue living the life of a rock star.

Taylor stated in a recent interview with Rock Feed (transcribed by Blabbermouth) that the physical strain of years of

live touring and giving it his best at innumerable gigs has now caught up with him. He now realises he only has a few

years left in him as a result of it.

If you ever watch old clips of Slipknot performances, you’ll witness a bunch of angry, angst-filled guys jumping

around on stage. When you combine it with the craziness that emanates from Taylor’s vocal chords, the singer is in

for a physically taxing performance.

However, issues aren’t necessarily brought on by the shows themselves. Over the years, Taylor claims that the

continual travel has also taken a toll on him.

Because it’s not like home at that point, travelling doesn’t lend itself to being healthy. You own all you own. Kind of,

you’re at the mercy of what is provided for you. It follows that you will, for the most part, feel like shit, sleep like shit,

eat like shit, and play like shit. That is not what we desire. Thus, it’s difficult. It’s not always fancy catering, the

greatest cuisine, and the nicest company, even for a guy my level. Sometimes you wake up at 12:30 in the morning

staring at a wet sandwich and thinking to yourself, “If I put this in my body, I’m going to throw up.”

“People are not very understanding. Can you guess why they believe that? It’s because you’re seeing the

advertisements and that’s all people see on TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms. On a few occasions, after leaving

the stage, we flew straight to the airport. We don’t go to bed until seven the following day. And at this point, we’re all

[tired]. It is even worse for our team because they have to fucking go in, check that everything is okay, and then they

can go fucking snooze. Thus, it’s not always gravy, dude. It’s difficult. It’s really hard job. It’s laborious even at our

level.
