Tommy Johansson, the guitarist, and Sabaton are going their own ways. After seven years, the trio announced on
Saturday that Johansson has chosen to “pursue his own path” and depart the group. Only a few months remain
before the band embarks on another tour of North America with legendary metal band Judas Priest, following their
breakup.
The band released a statement saying, “After 7 amazing years in the band, our guitarist, Tommy, has decided to leave
Sabaton to pursue his own path.” “On his travels, we send him our warmest wishes. As a close family, we have
supported him throughout his life and will do so going forward.
Although Tommy joined the band in 2016, Sabaton and he have been good friends since our first encounter at a
concert in 2005. He has added to innumerable enduring memories as a cherished band member. Tommy’s
resignation from Sabaton will not take effect right away. He will continue to work to make sure everything runs
properly when our replacement guitarist takes over.
Even though Sabaton will always harbour a tiny portion of his big heart, we all understand that he needs to pursue
his aspirations. Our paths will undoubtedly cross again in the future on and off the stage, even though we won’t be
sleeping next to him every day in the tour bus. Brother, soar on your wings and strings!
Additionally, Johansson issued a statement, which Sabaton posted on their official social media accounts.

I’ve made the decision to leave my position as Sabaton’s guitarist after seven amazing years of heavy metal. I’ve
never made a choice as difficult as this one in my whole life. I have several interests outside of Sabaton, as many of
you may already be aware. I perform with other bands, have a singing career that I’ve put on hold for years in
order to concentrate on Sabaton, and play with other musicians. I feel like it’s time to start listening to my heart
after seven years of doing this. This implies that I won’t be touring with my Sabaton brothers any longer, and I
won’t get to see all of you wonderful fans when the band goes on future tours. I’ll always continue to perform
music. I will continue to tour with Majestica and other projects, albeit obviously not to the same extent as Sabaton.
I have no doubt that I shall cross paths with you great admirers once more while travelling. I will always consider
my brothers in Sabaton and the world’s greatest crew to be my second family, and I will miss having so much fun
with them. Every day we had such a great time hanging out. I’ve gained knowledge about life, music, and touring
here that I never would have acquired somewhere else. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of the
wonderful Sabaton fans who welcomed me as the new guitarist in 2016. I’m confident that whoever succeeds me
will be welcomed. I hope to meet you all again soon and wish you all the best!

Sabaton will tour with Judas Priest in North America in April. They have previously been Priest’s special guests on
their 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour in 2021. The War to End All Wars, Sabaton’s tenth studio album, was released in
the previous year. It did well, landing at No. 2 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums list, No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Rock
Albums chart, and No. 1 on the Swedish Albums chart. The album is a follow-up to their 2019 release, The Great
War.
