In his 16 years as head coach of the Ravens, Harbaugh has only seen two losing seasons, 11 postseason appearances, and one Super Bowl victory. It’s difficult to have that kind of consistent success, therefore in a division where competition is fierce, it’s not a good idea to wager on another coach to continue doing so.

With a rookie Lamar Jackson, Harbaugh surmounted hot seat worries in 2018 and survived further hot seat chatter by making four postseason berths in the next five years. Harbaugh has previously demonstrated his ability to somewhat reinvent the wheel.

The Ravens’ ultimate goal is to win a championship, and if Baltimore fails to go past the first round of the playoffs, there may be a discussion over Harbaugh’s future. Following 13 victories and emerging within a win of the Super Bowl last season, though, there just hasn’t been enough losing in the Ravens’ recent history to justify a coaching change.
