Daniel Farke says Leeds United player is almost working too hard on the pitch right now
Daniel Farke has shared his assessment on Leeds United’s 1-1 draw at Norwich City and the reasons behind his substitutions in the final 20 minutes.
At Carrow Road, Leeds had to rally from behind to secure a creditable point, although the situation could have been worse had Farke kept some of his attackers on the field for longer.
Leeds was unfairly behind 1-0 at halftime due to Joe Rodon’s reckless challenge inside the box, which gave Josh Sargent the opportunity to score from the spot.
After bringing Leeds back even fifteen minutes into the second half, Largie Ramazani briefly gave the impression that his team would win.
But Farke eliminated all of Leeds’ remaining pace from the game—likely with Sunderland away in mind—and Joel Piroe and others were unable to have any kind of effect. The match concluded with a draw.
Farke makes interesting claim on Largie Ramazani work rate
Leeds had Norwich confined to their own box for ten or so minutes following the goal, and they should have taken the lead, but referee Stephen Martin’s dismal performance kept them out of the lead.
After combining for the goal, Ramazani and Gnonto were taking the home team’s defence by storm until they were substituted out a few minutes apart.
This is the consecutive second match. In his news conference following the game, Farke gave a detailed explanation for why Ramazani was substituted off early in the game.
Ramazani was taken off the field early to protect his legs for Sunderland because it is rumoured that he was almost exerting too much effort on the field. According to the Leeds manager, it is something that requires attention.
He stated: “It was almost his third start, and because the game was so intense, he was having some difficulty. There aren’t many wingers in the entire league right now that deliver less than this distance in terms of workload.
“This is not intended as criticism; rather, we need to focus on his physical argument. We can’t afford any more injuries given the absence of our wingers. This was the strategy, particularly against Norwich, who consistently provide games with the greatest distance travelled.
intensity in the whole league.
“You need wingers who help to work back. We wanted to use his creativity and momentum to leave him as long as possible on the pitch. I’m happy he came through 70 minutes.”
