Johannes Hoff Thorup on Abu Kamara’s City return

After a protracted period of dissatisfaction inside Norwich’s youth ranks, the young attacker submitted a formal

transfer request stating his intention to leave the club, and on deadline day, he left the Canaries.

After a successful loan posting at Portsmouth, Kamara decided it was time for a new challenge and decided to give

City another chance. After receiving offers from Oxford and Luton, he ultimately decided to leave the Canaries for

Hull in a move that might total more than £5 million.

Since relocating to the MKM Stadium, the 21-year-old has only made one start and is still getting used to his new

surroundings under Tim Walter.

On his first visit back to Norfolk this lunchtime, Thorup expects that Kamara will be treated with respect by City fans

despite the public drama that has played out over the summer.

“Players returning is always a little bit of a challenge. “First and foremost, I hope he will be treated with respect,”

City’s manager stated.

“I am aware that a lot was happening during his tenure at the club, both in the public and in his personal life. As a

club, I believe it’s critical that we can respect that. Being a football player puts you in a difficult position. My first

wish for the game is that.

“I always wish the guys who have been here the best, but I don’t hope he’s playing at his peak tomorrow. That’s the

way it is.

“He has alternated between starting and sitting on the bench during his career. Perhaps he needs to figure out where

he fits in at the club and in the group. It will take some time, but he is a player for Hull’s future.

“If he shows up, I hope he is treated with respect—but not more. We are there to win, then.
