Celtic’s Stance on Sacking Brendan Rodgers Mid-season

In recent weeks, there have been more calls for Brendan Rodgers to be fired since Celtic has been losing Premiership

points and is now two points behind Rangers in the fight for the championship.

Thus, the decisive advantage they held in the title battle only a few months ago has been thrown away. They have

won both of the Glasgow derbies, which is perhaps even more concerning.

For several reasons, Rodgers was considered the ideal summertime replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

He was a Scottish football champion. After leaving Leicester City the previous season, he was a free agent.

Additionally, he was someone who was intimately familiar with the club.

This season, Celtic has looked like a shadow of the team that won the Treble the previous season, so none of it has

mattered.

Many fans believe that Celtic must make a difficult choice after trailing Rangers in the league. However, it appears

that the team is not prepared to make any significant changes in the middle of the season.

Despite trailing Rangers in the Premiership title race, Celtic are not expected to make a snap decision regarding

Rodgers’ future, according to Football Insider. Before this campaign ends, there probably won’t be any change

regarding the Northern Irishman’s job.

Perhaps Rodgers deserves more time and support to get things right given his managerial history, which includes

stints at Celtic as well as clubs like Liverpool, Leicester City, and Swansea City.

However, he must also accept responsibility for his inability to get the most out of a team full of winners.

Under his tutelage, very few players have progressed this season. And despite the inconsistent outcomes, the

Northern Irishman appears to have persisted to a method that does not work for this team.

A manager with Rodgers’ level of experience would have been expected to take a far more practical approach.

Consider how Carlo Ancelotti overhauled Real Madrid’s system in the summer following Karim Benzema’s

departure. This shift drew harsh criticism, but the team’s subsequent success has won over everyone.

According to Rodgers, the board must also accept accountability for Celtic’s predicament. They risked the season by

signing a lengthy list of project participants in the summer and then failing to act appropriately when it became

apparent that reinforcements were required in the winter.
