racing future, hinting at a possible comeback to the Xfinity Series in 2025. Although he has only raced
sporadically since stepping away from full-time competition in 2017, Earnhardt has always prioritized
his racing schedule based on personal interest and sponsorship opportunities. His latest comments serve
as a reminder of his current commitments outside of racing, particularly his upcoming role in
broadcasting.
Starting in 2025, Earnhardt is set to join the broadcast teams at Amazon and TNT Sports for the
NASCAR Cup Series. He will make his debut during the prestigious Coca-Cola 600, with plans to cover
several additional races throughout the season. This transition reflects his dedication to expanding his
presence in motorsports beyond just driving.
Discussing the likelihood of his return to racing, Earnhardt Jr. shared on his podcast, “I don’t have any
plans. I like it that way. If I feel like racing, I will; if not, I won’t. But knowing myself, I’ll probably end up
thinking, ‘Man, I really miss it.’ When the year 2025 wraps up, I might be wishing I had participated in
more races.” He expressed excitement about the thrill of racing, particularly on tracks that allow drivers
to push their limits.
Reflecting on his last race at the Food City 300 in Bristol, where he finished seventh, Earnhardt noted,
“At 50 years old, if I never race again, I’m proud of finishing in the top ten. There have been legends like
Harry Gant and Bobby Allison who won races well into their 50s, so I know it’s achievable. However, not
racing weekly makes it feel like I’m a bit out of practice, and I have to catch up quickly. Every lap I
completed was fantastic, and I loved every moment of it.”
As he prepares for his new broadcasting responsibilities, Earnhardt remains focused on his family and
his work. While fans are eager to hear his insights from the broadcast booth, the possibility of him
returning to the Xfinity Series after 2025 remains a tantalizing prospect. For now, his commitment to
broadcasting is his priority, but the racing world knows better than to underestimate Dale Earnhardt
Jr.’s enduring passion for the sport.
