Slipknot delivers for longtime fans during throwback Aftershock show

Fans knew they were in for something “(sic)” and unique from the moment Slipknot members appeared from the

whirling stage fog. “Eyeless” followed as the audience continued to grow.

The 40,000 rock fans who attended Day 2 of the Aftershock rock festival in Sacramento on Friday seemed to be

drawn inexorably to Jack Daniels Stage.

Frontman Corey Taylor yelled, “You won’t hear a single song written after 1999 tonight.” “I apologise to the casual

Slipknot fan!”

Then, to commemorate their 25th anniversary tour, Slipknot paid homage to their 1999 self-titled debut album with

a “no frills, just brute force” performance.

Day 2’s high point was Slipknot, who also served as a great momentum booster for Saturday’s Day 3 program, which

includes Lorna Shore, Judas Priest, Anthrax, and Iron Maiden.

Highlight of Day 2:

On Day 2, the rock women appeared in Force. From Winona Fighter’s early days to the Warning, Poppy, Julliet

Lewis, and the Licks, and of course, Amy Lee’s Evanescence.

On the main Jack Daniels Stage, Mexican rock band The Warning made their presence known with a powerful late-

afternoon performance in front of an equally outstanding crowd. It was simple to observe how their popularity has

increased in just a few years since their last performance at Aftershock in the early afternoon.
