AC/DC Reportedly Losing Founding Member Ahead of Rumored 2024 Tour

AC/DC, the legendary Aussie rock band, might be gearing up for another tour, but it looks like a key member could

be missing. While the band hasn’t officially announced any performances yet, there’s growing speculation about a

potential tour, including a possible show in Munich, Germany, this June.

Music industry insider and AC/DC superfan Dean Delray recently shared some concerning news about long-time

bassist Cliff Williams. Delray, a comedian and avid fan who has previously interviewed Williams, revealed that a

trusted source informed him Williams may not be joining the band for any future tours.

Delray took to Instagram, where he has a dedicated following of 71,000 fans, to break the news. He shared a clip

from a 2020 interview with Williams, where the bassist had already hinted that he would be stepping back from

touring. “Three years ago, Cliff told me straight up that he wouldn’t be touring again,” Delray said in his post,

expressing gratitude for Williams’ incredible contributions over the years.

Williams, who has been with AC/DC since 1977, previously announced his retirement from the road in 2016 after the

Rock or Bust tour, citing both physical and mental health concerns. In a podcast from that year, Williams revealed

that he had made the decision to retire from full-time touring due to health issues and a desire not to hold the band back.

The news of Williams possibly not joining the next tour comes just weeks after the death of Colin Burgess, AC/DC’s

original drummer, who passed away in December 2023. AC/DC paid tribute to Burgess, calling him a “respected

musician” and sharing fond memories of their time together.

While details about the upcoming tour remain unconfirmed, fans are anxiously awaiting official announcements.

Should the tour proceed, a new bassist will likely be revealed soon, marking a new chapter in the band’s storied

career.

For now, fans can look back and appreciate the decades of iconic music and unforgettable performances that

Williams and the rest of AC/DC have given the world.
