Cubs predicted to land $23 million closer on two-year deal
The Chicago Cubs are expected to sign veteran closer Carlos Estevez to a two-year, $23 million deal. Estevez, who played for the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies last season, posted a 2.45 ERA and converted 26 of 31 save opportunities.
The Cubs have been relatively quiet this offseason but recently acquired Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros. Adding Estevez to their bullpen could give them a strong chance to compete for the top spot in the National League Central.
Estevez would bring a veteran presence to the Cubs’ bullpen, which could help improve upon last season’s 83-79 finish.
