L.A. Dodgers Star Shohei Ohtani Snaps Up Southern California Mansion for $7.8M
Shohei Ohtani, a star for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is settling down. According to the Los Angeles Times, the two-way sensation has purchased a property in La Canada Flintridge, California.
The Japanese slugger readily paid $7,850,000 for the modern home after agreeing to a 10-year, $700 million contract this winter.
Even though the price is high, it’s just the second-highest La Canada Flintridge sale in the last six months, after only a $10.7 million transaction in March.
Ohtani is surrounded by nice company. The suburban community has been home to a number of celebrities, including Donald Glover, Mario Lopez, Topher Grace, and Angela Bassett.
An additional benefit? Dodger Stadium is roughly 11 miles away from this area.
When the house was first advertised for $8,990,000 in June of last year, the Dodgers
Realtor.com® has made assumptions regarding Ohtani’s potential home because of his well-known lack of transparency about his personal life. We discovered a number of residences that may have been too prominent for the little celebrity.
He stayed away from celebrity hotspots like Malibu, Beverly Hills, and Hidden Hills. Instead, he selected a peaceful area with stunning modern architecture, lots of seclusion, a gym, and a sports court.
Inside the new digs
Built in 2013, the 7,327-square-foot house sits on an acre of land. The listing states that it combines “midcentury modern and contemporary design language.”
The dramatic Bluestone walls at the entry and the floor to ceiling and clerestory windows are highlights.
There are three more bathrooms in addition to five bedrooms, all of which have en suite bathrooms.
The floor plan features a gorgeous main suite, a family area with a fireplace, and an upscale kitchen. It’s possible that the latter convinced Ohtani to come. (It was really popular with us.)
The suite has a big soaking tub in the spa bath, a walk-in closet, a balcony, and a seating space.
There’s a four-car garage, a gym, and a sauna as well as a custom home theater. The house is outfitted with intelligent technologies.
There is a sport court, sitting rooms, and an infinity pool and hot tub in the garden.
Ohtani, 29, made his Dodgers debut this spring after agreeing to a record-breaking contract in December 2023. Ohtani played for the Los Angeles Angels for six seasons before signing with the Dodgers.
