(June 27, 2024) – The New York Red Bulls announced today that midfielder Frankie Amaya has transferred to Liga MX team Toluca F.C.

Amaya, 23, joined the Red Bulls from FC Cincinnati and has played with them for the past four seasons. During his 91 MLS games with the Red Bulls, Amaya has tallied eight goals and fourteen assists. Amaya made 20 MLS appearances this season, tallying three assists and one goal. With the Red Bulls, the midfielder recorded four career multi-assist games and assisted the team in making four postseason appearances. On May 8, 2021, he scored his first goal in Major League Soccer for New York in a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC.

Amaya played one season at UCLA, where he earned All-PAC 12 First Team honors, becoming the first UCLA freshman to do so since 2015. Amaya has represented the United States at the youth level; he made his debut for the United States U-20 National team on March 21, 2018, against France, and he made 11 career appearances for the U-20 National Team. Prior to moving to New York, Amaya spent two seasons with F.C. Cincinnati, where he was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
