Kyle Larson, the NASCAR champion, has secured a significant extension with Hendrick Motorsports. This new three-year deal, announced on September 16, 2022, will see Larson remain with the team until 2026. This extension also coincides with a continued partnership with HendrickCars.com, which will sponsor Larson’s No. 5 Chevrolet for 35 races each season.
Larson, who made a remarkable return to racing last season after a suspension, quickly proved his value by securing 10 wins and his first Cup title. His return to prominence came after a suspension in 2020 due to the use of a racial slur, which led to the end of his previous tenure with Chip Ganassi Racing. Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, praised Larson for surpassing expectations both on and off the track, highlighting his exemplary performance and positive representation of the team and its sponsors.
The partnership with HendrickCars.com has been notably successful, with the website experiencing significant traffic spikes whenever it was featured on Larson’s car. This sponsorship renewal reflects the strong marketing impact and the high value placed on Larson’s role within the team. Hendrick Automotive Group reported a substantial return on investment from their NASCAR initiatives, with Larson also contributing to their corporate social responsibility efforts.
Larson himself expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to continue with one of NASCAR’s top teams. He acknowledged the support from Hendrick Motorsports and its sponsors, emphasizing how much the chance to drive for such a renowned team means to him. As he heads into the playoff race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Larson is currently ranked eighth in the standings, with the pressure of an impending elimination round looming over the 16-driver field.
