Braves looking forward to getting in touch with the Nationals to acquire their “Long Liked” young amazing star..

Nats' under-the-radar pickup Lane Thomas off to strong start | Yardbarker

Due to superstar Ronald Acuña Jr.’s injury, the Atlanta Braves are thinner in the outfield, but this could soon change.

Less than a week remains until the trade deadline, and the Braves plan to acquire players. Atlanta might not be able to pull off a blockbuster trade that would completely change the franchise, but they might try to add additional depth in an effort to return to the postseason.

Washington Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas is one player the team has “long liked” and might be a trade deadline target, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

“On Monday, the day he signed with Atlanta, Whit Merrifield got hurt during warmups,” Passan stated. “Yet, the Braves sit atop the National League Wild Card standings, and they still possess pitching and lineup depth that can terrify even Philadelphia, which has eliminated favorite Atlanta from the postseason twice in a row. Therefore, yes, even though Alex Anthopoulos, president of baseball operations, is aiming more for singles and doubles than home runs, the Braves are ready to add an outfield bat (they’ve always admired Washington’s Lane Thomas) and hope to win the pennant again in 2021 despite a string of injuries.”

Having played in the major leagues for six years, Thomas has eight home runs, 39 RBIs, and 26 stolen bases this year. Most likely, the Braves will be hoping to acquire during the coming week, and Thomas might be the kind of guy who can provide some much-needed depth to the outfield without going over budget.
