After Southampton successfully regained their place in the Premier League, former Sheffield United player Che Adams is currently negotiating a new deal with the club. Adams most likely would have departed if Russell Martin’s team hadn’t defeated Leeds United in the play-off final, which allowed them to return at the first opportunity.

The Scotland international drew interest in January and last summer, but he ultimately chose to stay in the Premier League, which was his reward. Given the 27-year-old’s Premier League experience and his 17 goals in 46 games across all competitions last season, it’s hardly surprising that Southampton has started contract negotiations in advance of his current one expiring on June 30.

“Long-serving goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and striker Ché Adams are also approaching the end of their contracts, with talks regarding potential new deals ongoing,” the club stated in a statement.
When questioned in April about Adams’ and Stuart Armstong’s (released) contract circumstances, Saints manager Martin responded, “They are both really comfortable.” Between the beginning of the season until January, there was a great deal of talking. In January, it was stated that they were both content with their current situation and were giving it their all.

It was actually a relief when the window closed because it meant that my family and I were more settled.” This is where I am totally focused. I’ve been completely focused on Southampton from the moment the window closed until, hopefully, we get promoted.

The forward said, “I laugh because it’s so different,” in reference to his time working under Martin at Southampton and the shift in style under prior managers. But it’s a lot of fun for everyone. It varies depending on the role. You do not touch the ball as much as a striker does. He requests that you make room for the midfielders, the “eights,” and the

wide men, so in that situation, it’s challenging and unique. As a striker, I enjoy getting involved and taking the initiative. However, it is improving our skills and teaching us new things.

Adams, who scored 11 league goals in 47 appearances during his two years with the Blades from 2014 to 2016, will currently have a contract expiring on June 30. However, Southampton will be trying over the next 25 days to get that deal extended.
