Breaking: Boston Celtics announce the latest acquisition of amazing player..

Now that NBA free agency has officially begun, one of the Celtics’ essential backup big men is back on the team.

According to a source who spoke to MassLive, Luke Kornet has agreed to a one-year contract with Boston that will

keep him with the team moving forward. The story was initially reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Kornet had a great season and was a valuable big man backup the entire time. Additionally, he was a welcomed

presence in the NBA champions’ locker room. This past season, Kornet played in 63 games (seven starts) and

averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds. After Kristaps Porzingis missed a month of the playoffs due to injury, Kornet

saw an increase in playing time.

Going into free agency, the Celtics sought to strengthen their big man backup group behind Porzingis and Al

Horford. At least one question mark has been addressed with Kornet’s return to the Celtics, but the front office will

still be keeping an eye on the free agency mark moving ahead.

The Celtics are limited in their options due to the salary constraints, so expect more little moves along these lines.

The C’s are restricted in their ability to improve some areas of the roster through trades and signings since they are

above the second apron. However, the C’s still have a potent roster since they intend to win the championship again

the following year.
