Celtic defender to replace Rangers signing as ‘loan exit agreed’
It is anticipated that the Swedish centre defender will depart Glasgow prior to the summer transfer window closing.
And in a strange twist of fate, he might be a new Rangers signing’s replacement.
Sky Sports reports that Celtic has agreed to take the 24-year-old on loan from FC Twente.
Lagerbielke is being pursued by the Dutch team in an attempt to replace former captain Robin Propper, who joined
Rangers this summer.
Although the agreement has not yet been formalised, it is believed that a season-long loan offer has been accepted.
This summer, Twente appears to be in the lead race to sign Lagerbielke, despite interest from Heerenveen and Lecce as well.
After signing a long-term contract to join Celtic from IF Elfsborg, the centre back only made 10 appearances for the
team in the previous campaign.
It now seems likely that Lagerbielke will be sent on loan to build his ideal defensive duo of Cameron Carter-Vickers
and Liam Scales.
In terms of status, Stephen Welsh is also higher than Lagerbielke, and Maik Nawrocki is also employed at Parkhead.
Lagerbielke, who has two Sweden caps under his belt, has a deal with Celtic that runs until 2028.
