Chiefs Player Rushed to Hospital After ‘Medical Emergency’ as Practice Postponed
A Kansas City Chiefs player was admitted to the hospital following a “medical emergency,” according to recent
reports.
On Thursday, June 6, ESPN NFL reporter Adam Teicher, who covers the Kansas City-based football team, confirmed
the story, stating that practice has been rescheduled due to the circumstances.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Teicher stated, “One of the players was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.”
Teicher writes that the player, whose name was withheld, is in “stable condition,” and the Chiefs will instead practise
on Friday, June 7.
Online fans started guessing who the Chiefs player was right away, however a later report stated that the injured
athlete was not one of the team’s key players, which notably include tight end Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick
Mahomes.
NFL network reporter Tom Pelissero characterised the athlete who was taken to the hospital as a “backup defensive
lineman” for the club that won Super Bowl LVIII in a statement posted on X.
Pelissero claims that the athlete “went into cardiac arrest after having a seizure during a special teams meeting.”
Since “the team’s medical staff worked quickly,” the athlete’s condition is reportedly stable. In a subsequent update,
he identified the player as DL BJ Thompson, a “fifth-round pick in 2023.”
In response to the news, one X user posted online, “I hope he recovers quickly,” while another said, “Hope the player
is safe, waiting for updates.”
After finishing the previous season on a high note, the Chiefs have already returned to work and are aiming for a
third consecutive Super Bowl title this year.
The 34-year-old Kelce has lately been seen with the squad taking part in some off-season activities, but he seemed to
be clearly preoccupied with someone special.
While the team was moving in unison across the practice field during what looked to be a stretching activity, Kelce
was noticeably occupied conversing with Mahomes, 28, during a workout on Thursday, May 30.
While some internet users believed Kelce was simply “distracted” by working out with his closest friend, others
speculated that he might be thinking about his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Kelce hasn’t attended a performance since the “Fortnight” singer’s visit to Paris, France last month, and she is
currently on the European leg of her Eras Tour.
