Browns Announce Four Transactions, Including Tackle Acquisition..
The Cleveland Browns made four announcements today, including the return of one
offensive tackle to the club and the placement of another on injured reserve.
With the exception of the bizarre offensive tackle injury-fest that resulted from the game
against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon, which saw James Hudson,
Hakeem Adenji, and Germain Ifedi leave the field, the number of injured Browns
offensive tackles is now six.
The position is what changes, but the Browns’ peculiar luck with injuries that target a
certain position doesn’t. It was quarterbacks last year, and it is offensive tackles this
year. Fantastic.
The Browns announced four transactions Wednesday, two of which involved tackles, in
an effort to replenish the larder.
OT Chim Okorafor returned, and Hakeem Adenji, 26, was placed on the team’s injured
reserve due to a knee injury. After being selected by Cincinnati in the draft and spending
some time in Minnesota prior to moving to Cleveland, Adenji was in his fifth season out
of Kansas. Adenji’s return date from injury is determined by the Browns based on a
complicated set of regulations that are only meant for those who spend their entire lives
learning obscure bureaucratic NFL jargon. These rules seem to alter every off-season.
Before being cut earlier this summer, Okorafor was in camp with the Browns. As an
undrafted rookie, he had previously spent some time with Philadelphia and Minnesota.
LB Brandon Bouyer-Randle, who was also with the team, is on a similar trajectory.
earlier this year after serving as an undrafted rookie with Tampa Bay and Washington the previous year.
WR Matt Landers, who gained some support during camp, was cut to make place for
Bouyer-Randle. It looks like Landers will only hope to be invited to the practice squad
later this month.
