Breaking: Florida Gators emerging as the front-runner to recruit the exceptional player into the roster…

Three-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery of Miami (Fla.) Central told Swamp247 that he was

targeting August 25th as his commitment date when he was last interviewed. That date to declare his

college commitment is already fixed in stone, not long after that chat. According to Montgomery, Florida

has long been a competitor in this recruiting class, and along with the Gators, other schools that will

have their hats on the table for his announcement are Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Penn State, and

Oregon.

Montgomery intends to travel to Gainesville this coming weekend ahead of his scheduled commitment

date in order to attend the coaching staff’s ‘Grill in the Ville’ recruiting picnic. Since he made his official

visit in early June, this will be his first return.

“I truly wish to return and spend time relaxing with the players and coaches once more,” Montgomery

stated to Swamp247 earlier this month. “Just get back and build more of a bond with those players and

coaches, so that if I do end up going to Florida, the bonds are already there, and strong.”

In addition to his scheduled visit on July 27, Montgomery may speak this week twice, with July 25 being

the possible stop. Montgomery’s primary incentive would be to spend time with the club during one of

their summer OTA practices.

“I have not seen them do a practice like that yet, but I intended to go there last month to watch one of

their summer workout sessions. I was not able to do so.

After the ‘Dead Period’ ends this month, I want to try to do that. I might visit there for the day to see one

of those on the 25th. Right now, it is still kind of a maybe, but I am trying to see if I can pull it off. If I

visit that day, return home, and then attend the barbecue again. Alternatively, if I visit on one of those

days and remain till the barbecue.”

Florida and Penn State have been the two schools associated with him out of his six finalists. The Gators

are thought to have recruited him the hardest out of those two teams. Billy Gonzales, the wide receivers

coach, has a lengthy history with Gainesville for the 6-foot-1, 165-pound player, but Billy Napier, the

head coach, has also had a significant role. Montgomery has even noticed Napier stepping up his efforts

even more in the past month.

“Coach Napier and I have been communicating daily. as if it were every day. I also speak with Coach

[Billy] Gonzales every day, who is another coach there. We have a very close relationship. It is nothing

new for me to talk to Coach Napier; I have done it always. How much more we have been talking about is

new. He has been in daily contact for the past month or so, I would estimate. It was taken to a whole new

level this month. He simply tells me that I am important to them and that he wants me to play for

Florida State. He believes that I can improve beginning on my first day there and develop into the

greatest receiver I can be.”

Two wide receivers, Vernell Brown III (a four-star prospect) and Joshua Moore (a four-star prospect),

have already committed to Florida in the 2025 class. The staff would be thrilled to have Montgomery

join that already strong group.
