Sidy Cissoko, who the Spurs selected in the previous year’s draft, was lost. The 6-foot-6 wing player is French, just as

Wemanyama. He arrived without much fanfare, unlike Wemby, and split his time between the San Antonio Spurs and their

G-League affiliate Austin Spurs for the majority of the season. Popovich thinks he’s shown enough.

“He’s the greatest coach of all time, in my opinion,” the legendary coach extolled Cissoko.

His power, length, agility, and explosiveness catch my eye when I examine his physique. He also has a natural aptitude for

passing, which is something we can’t really teach. He passes the ball pretty well. Obviously, he has to work on his shot. His

explosiveness and foot speed when playing defense The admiration for his young player didn’t end there. When asked about

his fourth overall selection this summer, Popovich spoke highly of Stephon Castle in what turned out to be the former

UConn star’s final Summer League game before the Spurs benched him due to an injury. “I love his seriousness for such a

young kid, I love his pace. You’ll see his expression never changes. He doesn’t go too fast, he doesn’t go too slow. He reads

the situations. The more minutes he gets, the better he’s going to be. He seeks contact. He’s an excellent defender and he

makes wonderful decisions,” Popovich said of the young shooter.
