Chiefs Kick Local Standout to Curb Immediately After Signing Him
Eric Scott Jr., a talented wide receiver from the area, was released by the Kansas City Chiefs a few days after they claimed him off the waiver wire in order to make room for other acquisitions.
Former standout player at Basehor-Linwood High School, Scott was selected by the Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite his days of dominating the Kansas high school ranks, he had a great collegiate career at Southern Miss but has yet to play in an NFL game.
This week, the Chiefs signed RB Samaje Perine to the active roster, necessitating Scott’s dismissal. Considering his background, he should be able to make an impression on a practice squad, if not the 53-man roster.
Leaders Discharge CB Eric Scott as soon as he signed him
By coincidence, Kansas City gave Dallas the 2023 sixth-round selection, which was selected by Scott, in return for the 2024 fifth-round selection, which was selected by Penn State centre Hunter Nourzad. How did the Chiefs initially obtain the additional 2023 draft pick?
from the trade of Tyreek Hill. It appears that Kansas City’s decisions are all related to that cunning transaction. Even though that’s exaggerated, it’s funny that Scott’s hometown story somehow connected to Hill.
For the Cowboys, Scott had an outstanding preseason, giving up just a 53.2 passing rating when targeted and recording an interception as well. He has a flair for creating turnovers; in 33 games during his high school career, he recorded 126 tackles and nine interceptions.
From Scott’s three days with the team, one thing about the Chiefs’ approach is evident: Brett Veach will stop at nothing to make this team better, even if it means producing more documentation.
