Kyle Larson is eager to race in the Indianapolis 500 again next year. His current contract with Arrow McLaren Racing, which he signed with Hendrick Motorsports, includes an option for 2025 that is still being finalized.
“I would love to [return],” Larson stated. “It’s progressing, but obviously things can change.” He qualified fifth for this year’s Indy 500 but faced challenges, including a late-race speeding penalty that dropped him to 18th.
After the Indy 500, Larson rushed back to North Carolina for the Coca-Cola 600, only to encounter more rain, resulting in the race being cut short before he could participate. This situation sparked controversy in NASCAR regarding playoff waivers, but Larson ultimately received one and heads into the playoffs as the points leader.
Larson’s interest in the Indy 500 stems not only from a desire to compete but also from his goal of completing “The Double,” racing in both the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Only a few drivers have attempted this feat, with Tony Stewart being the only one to finish both races in the same day.
A decision on Larson’s participation in the 2025 Indy 500 could come as soon as next week.
