With Gray’s £40 million transfer to Tottenham, The 49ers will see less financial strain going forward. Still, the board will have to sell a few because there are still a lot of unpaid player transfers.
Many have also been connected. Willy Gnonto and Glen Kamara are two of the four Leeds players that Brighton is reportedly interested in, although the Seagulls’ £30 million offer for club record signing Georginio Rutter was turned down.
Junior Firpo’s contract with Leeds is “expected” to expire in a year, therefore Leeds will need to sell him or get him to sign a new agreement in order to keep him from going free. Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford are interested.
Daniel Farke told Charlie Cresswell he could quit Leeds.
Charlie Cresswell feels the same way. The England U21 player complained last season about not getting enough playing time, and Daniel Farke gave him the cold shoulder halfway through the 2023–24 season.
Prior to returning to Leeds and agreeing to a new contract, Cresswell had excelled while on loan at Millwall, even scoring five goals. There appeared to be a few players who would gain from relegation, including Rutter and Summerville.
There was also Cresswell on that list, but things didn’t work out as planned. According to Planet Sport, Farke has informed the “excellent” 21-year-old that he is free to leave Leeds during the summer transfer window.
Despite his Sunday trip to France, Cresswell is visible in the training footage.
On Sunday and Monday, Cresswell came close to following Farke’s instructions. The defender took off for France to have a meeting with Toulouse, a Ligue 1 team that faced Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the Europa League the previous season.
Unexpectedly, on Monday, a £3.8 million deal collapsed when Toulouse was unable to reach an agreement with Cresswell. Leeds released a video of the players making their way back to Thorp Arch on Tuesday.
In the video, Cresswell can be seen stretching his legs and receiving a massage before Georginio Rutter makes fun of him in French. In the upcoming weeks, it’s likely that other teams will try to sign the Leeds player.
