The 49ers, who lost to Southampton in the Championship play-off final and were unable to advance, have acknowledged that they will need to sell players this summer in order to adhere to Financial Fairplay regulations.
Eight players left last summer due to Orta’s loan clause, and three players’ futures have been confirmed. Luis Sinisterra has agreed to a permanent move to Bournemouth, while Robin Koch will join Frankfurt on a permanent basis.
Fans’ reactions to Brenden Aaronson’s return to Elland Road will be divided. There are still issues to be resolved regarding the futures of Jack Harrison, Marc Roca, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, and Diego Llorente.
Wober, Kristensen, and Llorente do not have Orta’s clause for a second summer in their contracts, but one of them has informed Leeds he wants to leave. Harrison and Roca are thought to be able to go out on loan once more.
A Leeds player informs the team that he wishes to join a loan team.
The fact that Llorente is eager to get off Elland Road won’t surprise anyone. Over the past 18 months, the 30-year-old has been on loan at Roma, where he has made 54 appearances, with over 40 of those coming during the 2023–24 season.
After meeting with the Roma sporting director this month, Llorente is anticipated to return to Roma with his agency. Daniele De Rossi called Llorente a “tremendous” player following a late goal against Fiorentina.
