Cavan Biggio Signs Minor League Contract With Giants
The Giants announced that they had signed Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract (X link via MLB.com’s Maria Guardado). The Dodgers released the infielder a few weeks ago. He’s headed to Triple-A Sacramento.
This season, Biggio has appeared for both the Dodgers and the Blue Jays. He has a line of play of.197/.316/.306 in 219 plate appearances. In 74 games, Biggio has only hit five home runs, but he has walked at a strong average pace of 11%. This season, the player has struck out at a record-breaking 32% rate. Because of his below-average play, Biggio was designated for assignment by both the Toronto and Los Angeles clubs.
The Dodgers dealt minor league pitcher Braydon Fisher to the Jays in mid-June, but they released Biggio two months later.
