Breaking news: Dave Matthews excited to welcome a gifted singer to the group after…

The Dave Matthews Band (DMB) made a much-awaited return to Jones Beach on July 18 for a make-up show

following the previous evening’s rainout. As frontman Dave Matthews thanked the audience for their support and

patience, the mood was set for an evening full of well-known songs and unexpected covers. With the intention of

giving an unforgettable performance, he stated, “Thank you so much for making your way back this evening.”

To the surprise of the audience, “The Last Stop,” which had not been performed live since September 2018, opened

the concert. This song, which was initially scheduled for the show that was rained out, demonstrated the band’s

flexibility and ability to interact with the crowd. The vivid energy of the occasion was further enhanced by a lively

rendition of ‘Corn Bread’ on the same night, which featured amazing slide guitar work by Tim Reynolds.

During “The Song That Jane Likes,” DMB surprised everyone by teasing the song “Kill the Preacher,” which isn’t

played very often. This kept the crowd excited. After missing the previous night’s performance due to sickness,

saxophonist Jeff Coffin made a triumphant comeback to the stage, showcasing exceptional solos in songs such as

“Lover Lay Down” and “What Would You Say.” A light-hearted rendition of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” was

performed throughout the concert, and a medley fusing AC/DC’s “Back in Black” with the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive”

was intercut with the Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle.”

The band performed an emotional encore that included the lively “Louisiana Bayou” and “Where Are You Going” as

the evening came to an end. As a sign of the close bond DMB has with their followers, Matthews thanked the crowd

and remained on stage to take photographs and engage with fans after the last song.

All things considered, the Jones Beach make-up event was a huge success, exhibiting the band’s extraordinary

creativity and capacity to provide life-changing experiences. Fans can visit the Box Scores area of the Relix website
