He pitched seven innings, giving up just three hits and striking out eight as the Tigers easily won 8 to 0. After having his worst game of the year on May 22 against the Kansas City Royals, Skubal recovered.

In five innings of work, he gave up four earned runs, tying a season-high, while pitching his fewest innings this season. Last week, he suffered his only loss of the year.

Skubal has given up one earned run or fewer in five appearances during the 2024 regular season, including today’s start. Skubal has a 2.01 ERA and is 7-1 so far this season.

His ERA is the fifth-best in all of Major League Baseball, and his seven victories rank him fourth in the league.

Since making his MLB debut in 2020, Skubal has established himself as a mainstay in the Detroit Tigers starting rotation. Skubal had flexor tendon surgery in August 2022, which left him sidelined for almost a year.

On July 4, 2023, he finally made his much-anticipated comeback against the Oakland Athletics. Despite missing much of the season, he ended the season with an ERA of 2.80, which would have placed him fourth in the league, but he was ineligible.

With an ERA of 3.63, he has a 30-28 career record.
