Leeds United eye shock return for Championship winger amid transfer battle

Leeds United is considering a surprise transfer for academy graduate Jack Clarke in the middle of departing attackers. The Sunderland winger’s decline due to a virus led to his sale to Tottenham in 2019 for £10 million.

The Sunday Mirror reports that The Whites want to bring in Jack Clarke to take Georginio Rutter’s place. The York-born winger will now be Farke’s second attacker at Elland Road after first being seen as a Crysencio Summerville replacement.

Leeds United may struggle to sign Jack Clarke given that two elite teams are vying for his services: Southampton and Lazio. The Frenchman’s departure marked the departure of another attacking player for the team, joining the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Glen Kamara, and Archie Gray, who all left the midfield lacking depth. All of these players have not yet been replaced. The 49ers have been working extra hours to make ends meet before the transfer window window closes.

The 23-year-old was a huge fan of Marcelo Bielsa’s. But following a decline in performance, the young player was dropped from the Argentine manager’s plans entirely.

Although Jack Clarke is not exactly equivalent to Georginio Rutter or Crysencio Summerville, it does signify something that he is regarded as one of the division’s most interesting players.

With his move from Leeds United, the English winger has improved significantly. Clarke has gone a long way from being an overrated talent to fulfilling certain expectations.

The adaptability of the 23-year-old could potentially work to The Whites’ advantage. The Englishman can fill any offensive role, which can address the club’s front-line issue.

He can be used by the 49ers in attacking midfield on the left or right.
