Pittsburgh Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins dies at age 24 in traffic accident

QB Dwayne Haskins of the Pittsburgh Steelers passed away on Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida, as

a result of a traffic accident. At the age of 24, Haskins was.

The tragedy’s announcement was announced by Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in a statement on

Saturday.

“I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins,” Tomlin

stated. “He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our

hardest workers, both on the field and in our community.”

As per the Florida Highway Patrol in West Palm Beach, Haskins was engaged in a “fatal vehicle vs

pedestrian crash” early on Saturday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m.

As he attempted to cross the “limited access facility for unknown reasons,” the football player  Lt.

Indiana Miranda sent an email to NBC News stating that there was approaching traffic in the westbound

lanes of Interstate 595. That is when he ran into a dump truck that was approaching.

Miranda stated that Haskins was declared dead at the spot and that there is still an ongoing

investigation into the traffic homicide.

“Dwayne was a fantastic friend to a great number of people, but he was also a great teammate.” I am

genuinely devastated,” Tomlin remarked. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kalabrya, and his

entire family during this difficult time.”

Haskins, an Ohio State University great quarterback in the past, will turn 25 next month.

Despite playing in just one season as a starter, Haskins broke Big Ten records and finished as one of the

top college football players. third place in the 2018 Heisman Trophy vote.
