Ex-Red Sox Pitcher Officially Announces Retirement After Successful Career.
Officially, one former Boston Red Sox player is hanging up his cleats.
On Friday, Corey Kluber, a former pitcher for the Red Sox, formally announced his retirement from Major League Baseball on Instagram, after a 13-year brilliant career.
“With sincere appreciation, I am announcing my retirement from Major League Baseball, concluding a remarkable 13-season Major League Baseball journey,” Kluber stated. “I am incredibly appreciative of all the people and things that helped to shape my journey.
“Thank you very much to the Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, and New York Yankees for letting me play for your clubs and wear their jerseys. Every chapter was full with incredible moments, outstanding teammates, and the support of loyal fans who inspired me to give it my all each and every time I stepped onto the pitch.”
As a member of the Guardians in 2011, Kluber started his remarkable big-league career. In his nine years with the Cleveland Indians, he emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball, winning two Cy Young Awards and making three All-Star selections.
Prior to the 2020 season, he signed with the Rangers, the Yankees, the Rays, and the Red Sox. He concluded his career with the Red Sox in 2023.
Ultimately, Kluber’s career ended with 116 victories against 77 losses, a 3.44 ERA, and 271 total appearances with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 1,725 to 368.
