Sabaton’s frontman, and co-founder, Joakim Brodén chat’s with MPM’s Gary Spiller
“What we have seen this evening is the raising of excellent music to a Broadway or West End level, whether it be
through magnificent costumes, extremely well-executed choreography or sheer skill with stage props.” Achieving
success means scaling mountains and nailing the success flag to the top. This concludes my synopsis of Sabaton’s
2023 main performance at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena, which has a capacity of 7,500.
Known as the “Tour to End All Tours,” the tour from the previous year was an incredible experience that will remain
ingrained in my wife Kelly’s and my memories for a very long time. Kelly took pictures of the whole Cardiff event. It
would be an injustice to Sabaton not to give the evening in the capital city of Wales more than they deserve.
Inspirational Swedish metallers Sabaton are nearing the significant milestone of celebrating their 25th year of
formation. They are currently on tour in the USA as special guests of British metal stalwarts Judas Priest. Their
eloquent singer Joakim Brodén takes a break from his hectic Milwaukee, Wisconsin tour schedule to speak with
MPM’s Gary Spiller and share a few jokes.
Anticipating spending an additional six weeks touring the United States with The Priest, Joakim also shares details
about the recording of their Amsterdam show that will be released globally on Friday, October 11th, at about 1,000
theatres. The amount of energy produced throughout is described together with the size of their production and the
logistics required.
For one night only, see this enormous production in theatres; tickets are available at https://sabaton.film/.
Joakim considers the breadth of influence his band has had over the years, the successes that have surpassed their
wildest expectations, and their partnerships with Van Canto and Nanowar of Steel. Along with hinting at the band’s
eleventh album’s progress, he also discusses the transition from beer drinking and Judas Priest listening to really
travelling with the band!
