Breaking: San Antonio Spurs reveal who be their first NBA draft 2024…

The 2024 NBA draft might start on Wednesday night with the San Antonio Spurs holding the top choice.

The Spurs presently own the Nos. 4 and 8 picks in the draft, but according to Mark Stein, they may package both selections in an effort to move up and get the Atlanta Hawks’ No. 1 pick.

Sarr is expected to go to Washington with the second overall pick, as we reported here on Wednesday, but there are still rumors circulating that the Spurs want to deal for the Hawks to move up from No. 4 to No. 1.

The Hawks are predicted to choose between Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher if they, as predicted, keep the choice. The 7-1 Sarr and the 7-4 Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft and the NBA Rookie of the Year, are a match made in heaven if the Spurs can convince the Hawks to trade.

It’s unlikely that Sarr or Risacher will be available if the Spurs stay at No. 4. The Houston Rockets are likely to choose either player should one of them fall to No. 3. There are whispers that the Rockets are eager to trade down, but if they stay put, they won’t be able to.
The Spurs aim to develop around their youthful hero after Wembanyama helped them finish with a 20–60 record the previous season. Although Wembanyama last season lived up to the predraft hype, he still requires assistance. Sarr would relieve Wembanyama of some of the load and provide the Spurs with another potent defensive presence.

The Spurs would have another frontcourt pairing akin to Tim Duncan’s if they are able to sign Sarr.
