Slipknot to release 25th anniversary edition of the band’s self-titled album
Roadrunner Records gained notoriety for continuously releasing deluxe editions and reissues of their roster’s hit albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Not even Slipknot’s breakthrough self-titled debut from 1999 survived the label’s promotional strategies. Even the tracklist for the album’s first reissue was trimmed because of a copyright dispute regarding the songs “Frail Limb Nursery” and “Purity.”
Numerous digipaks, expanded reissues, and a 10-year anniversary edition of the album have all been released with extra content over the years. Now that the double-platinum release’s 25th anniversary has passed on June 29th, Slipknot is commemorating the event with an upcoming reissue that delves even deeper.
M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, the percussionist for Slipknot, is spearheading the effort to extract exclusive and uncommon material from the archive for what may turn out to be the final version of the legendary album. Crahan hinted at the details of this special re-release in a recent interview with Metal Hammer.
