David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that the Boston Bruins are still interested in pending free agent forward Elias Lindholm.

Lindholm signed a six-year, $29.1 million contract on July 16, 2018, when he was still with the Calgary Flames. On February 1, 2024, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks.

Lindholm is expected to become a free agent on July 1st after his contract expires, and according to Pagnotta, the Bruins are very interested in him.

In his piece, Pagnotta noted that rumours about the Boston Bruins and their desire to sign centre Elias Lindholm, a future unrestricted free agent, are spreading more and more.

The Bruins’ interest in Lindholm is not new; in fact, Boston attempted to trade him twice before Vancouver acquired him, and one more during his difficult time with the Canucks.

In 75 games between the Flames and Canucks the previous season, Lindholm scored 15 goals and added 29 assists for 44 points. He contributed 5 goals and 5 assists for a total of 10 points in 13 games during the playoffs.

According to DailyFaceoff.com, Lindholm is expected to sign a seven-year contract worth $8 million each season.

Last season, the Bruins attempted to trade for Lindholm.

Boston looked to get Lindholm after Vancouver did, and the Bruins had been interested in the Swede for a while.

According to NHL source Chris Johnston, Lindholm didn’t fit in well in Vancouver, and the Canucks had discussions to trade him to Boston prior to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.

“It’s been reported that the Canucks are reportedly considering trading Elias Lindholm to the Bruins in order to complete the necessary arrangements to acquire Jake Guentzel,” tweeted Johnston. “At this point, nothing substantial is in place. There are still many moving pieces.

Though the deal fell through, Pagnotta reports that Boston intends to sign him as a free agency on July 1.
