Breaking: The Coventry City star made his Sheffield United debut after departing the team as free agent this summer…

Following his summer departure as a free agent from Coventry City, Callum O’Hare was announced at Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old is said to have rejected a very expensive offer from the Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as interest from Burnley’s relegation and Southampton, Southampton’s recent Premier League promotion.

Though there is ambiguity around the Dutch/Brazilian’s future at the team, the Blades are believed to have paid top division wages to get the offensive midfielder, who is reunited with another favourite of the Sky Blues, Gustavo Hamer, at Bramall Lane.

The Blades released the following statement on their website: “United has successfully fought off strong competition from several teams to secure the services of an exciting offensive talent on a long-term contract.

“Callum O’Hare, formerly of Coventry City, has penned a four-year-contract at Bramall Lane and arrives on a free transfer, with the deal concluded shortly after it was confirmed that Wales international Kieffer Moore had also become a Blade on Monday.”

“Like Kieffer, Callum is another player who has been on our radar for some time,” manager Chris Wilder stated. Callum is a terrific player, and we are happy that he chose to continue his career with us. I don’t think any club in the Championship, and perhaps even some in the Premier League, would not love the chance to work with him.

“Our supporters will be well-aware of Callum, as he has shown good performance against us for Coventry in the past, and I am sure they have observed qualities that align with their expectations of a Sheffield United player.”

“I’ve talked a lot about the kind of players we want to come here in the future and about creating the appropriate culture. Callum fits the bill for what we are searching for, and our staff is eager to work with him.

“I am thrilled to be here,” stated O’Hare. It’s a huge club, and while other teams and leagues expressed interest in me, I felt that this was the perfect move for my career, so I’m excited to play there right now.

“I have a great deal of affection for the Coventry players, supporters, and coaches; they have played a significant role in both my life and career, but I just thought this was the right time.”
